Setting up
Charge and wear the watch
A Wear OS watch, such as a Samsung Galaxy Watch, with internet: its own mobile data, Wi-Fi, or a paired phone's connection.
Open Memowrist on the watch
It shows an 8-digit code, with a new one ready when that code runs out.
Enter the code on your phone
In the Memowrist app on your Android phone. From then on the watch and your phone talk over the internet, wherever you are.
Invite the rest of the family
Settings → Family → Create invite code. Each person who joins gets every alert.
Answers for families
Only what helps it speak warmly with them: their name, the names of the family members using this app, their medicines and reminder times, and up to 5 short facts from each chat (such as people, places, food and songs) while “Remember between chats” is on. Facts from chats are kept online and are not listed on this phone. Clear AI memory erases them all at once, and only the family member who set up Memowrist can do that. Memories you add here stay on this phone, and the companion does not use them yet. AI memory and recaps are stored in Singapore, and Settings → Privacy explains who handles them.
No household Wi-Fi is required, but the watch needs internet: its own mobile data, Wi-Fi, or the connection of a phone it is paired with over Bluetooth. Chats with the companion and alerts go over that connection. Medication reminders and fall detection keep running on the watch while it is offline, and its alerts are sent once it reconnects. This phone gets alerts over the internet (mobile data or Wi-Fi) and needs it to show the map.
Yes, from Recall → Memory → Clear AI memory. It deletes every fact the AI learned, every daily recap, the chats kept on this phone and the summaries of past chats. The chat list still shows when each chat happened and how long it lasted. Only the family member who set up Memowrist can clear the memory kept online; on any other phone, it clears this phone only. Deleted data also leaves our backups within about 7 days. You can choose to keep the memories you added yourself.
No. Memowrist is not a medical device and it does not replace clinical care. The heart-rate, fall and wellness alerts are nudges for you: they help you decide whether to check on your loved one, but they do not detect, diagnose or treat any condition. For a suspected medical emergency, call 995.
English, Mandarin, Bahasa Melayu and Tamil. Your loved one hears the language you picked during setup, and you can change it any time in Settings → Language. In every language the companion stays warm and gentle: it never corrects them or switches to clinical wording.
Yes. Open Recall → Chat schedules to pick days and a time — for example, a morning check-in at 9 a.m. on weekdays. Within 15 minutes of each time, this phone invites them to chat on the watch with a warm greeting. The invite goes from this phone over Bluetooth, so it only reaches the watch while the watch is paired with this phone and connected to it; otherwise that chat is missed. Schedules do not follow quiet hours.
Best-effort, not clinical. The watch looks for a sudden, hard knock followed by stillness; on High sensitivity, a hard knock alone is enough. Real life is messy: a dropped watch or a big arm swing can set off a false alert, and a slow slide to the floor can be missed. Treat every fall alert as a reason to check in, not proof of a fall, and never rely on it as the only safety measure for someone at high risk of falling.
On the watch, Memowrist keeps three things running in the background: location, heart rate and fall detection. On a Samsung Galaxy Watch, four settings can quietly stop them:
1. Power saving must be off (it cuts background apps off the internet): Settings → Battery → Power saving.
2. “Pause app activity if unused” must be off for Memowrist: Settings → Apps → Memowrist.
3. Notifications must be allowed for Memowrist: Settings → Apps → Memowrist → Notifications.
4. Body sensors must be allowed: Settings → Apps → Memowrist → Permissions → Body sensors. Heart-rate alerts need it.
Then open Memowrist on the watch once. It checks again and starts anything that stopped.
